The Greener Life #2-Unsubscribe

Today I want to talk about a problem most of the world faces. Do you ever order something from a company and then get unrelated junk mail for the rest of your life? Does someone else order something for you and you get unrelated junk mail for the rest of THEIR life? Have you ever just thought about ordering something and gotten junk mail for the rest of some hypothetical persons life? Well, I have, and so have my roommates.
Now, for most people this isn't such a problem; they just throw out their junk mail. Not here. Here at Evergreen we are very into recycling and being eco-friendly. This is a problem when we get enough junk mail to wallpaper our entire apartment. Our recycling bin just isn't big enough (or we are just too lazy to empty it).
And don't get me started about trying to be taken off mailing lists. It's ridiculously difficult. So we just keep on recycling and watching our bin overflow and being too lazy to empty it. It's a depressing cycle.

The Greener Life-#1 Quiet on Stage?

So this a little segment I like to call "The Greener Life".
No it's not a drug reference, or an eco-conscious company name. It's basically a section of my blog where I talk about things that happen on my college campus.
Let me explain this for you who still don't get the title.
I go to a school called 'The Evergreen State College'. They call us Greeners. In some ways it stems from our name, in other ways it comes from the fact that, yes, we are extremely into being eco-friendly. Or it may be a play on the fact that we are a bunch of hippie's living in the woods and for the most part, smoking a lot of illegal drugs. (I however, do not take part in that.)
Anyways: I'm going to start our trip through the Greener life with this story.
I've been told that the Pacific Northwest is home of some of the nicest people around. I don't necessarily get that, because I grew up here, but everyone says it. We are also some of the quieter people. I think that it's because we are so laid back and chill, man.
That being said, Evergreen is one of the quietest college campus's I've ever been on. I hear this almost everyday from my theater professor, who absolutely hates it. He wants us to just go out and make noise. It's not always the easiest thing to do though.
This year they started remodeling our communications building, leaving the performing art's department without any real performance spaces. It also means that we are cramped together with non-performing art's classes. We are constantly being asked to be quiet because we stomp on the ground or yell, or just generally are too loud.
Today however it was slightly ridiculous. We weren't even making noise yet, we were just walking around, and someone comes up stairs and says they are taking midterms and that we need to be quiet.
So we moved out onto the outside walkways on the roof.
We were dancing and singing, being a little loud, but really not that bad. We had someone come up after 10 minutes and said his class was down a floor and the next building over and could see us through the window. He said we were too distracting to his students-who were also taking a midterm. We then had to whisper. Outside. On a walkway. Away from classrooms.
It's just ridiculous.
But that's Evergreen.
If you're ever here, SCREAM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CAMPUS, please?
